Dickens on the Strand

Each year brings something new
and different to Dickens on the Strand. This year the Dickens
Feast was the showpiece. This featured Charles Dickens' "A
Christmas Carol" beautifully rendered in a live reading by his Great
Grandson Mark Dickens. The feast was standing room only in a huge
ballroom. It was broadcast live on the radio. There was a
tremendous multi-course dinner served to the hundreds of special guests.
The charectors of the story were represented in the crowd in full
costume. Between the readings, a live string quartet performed,
setting a wonderful mood. It was a real treat to be able to
attend and act as officials photographers for the event.
If you are in the Texas Gulf Coast region in December
next year, make a point of trying to get to Galveston to experience Dickens
on the Strand!
