Beautiful Panoramic View of a Glacier in Southern Chile
Cruising the Coast of Chile

The coast of Chile was probably the best part of the trip. We sailed the Pacific Ocean to Puerto Montt - big sea swells but they said it was not bad. Later, the island channels protected us and the fun began. First ,Patagonia with its wind-swept landscape - trees permanently bent over! Then, beautiful, shimmering mountain lakes and volcanoes at Puerto Chacabuco. Further down, were massive fjords and several, big glaciers. At all the stops, we met a rugged territory with tough people who are trying hard to attract tourists. We also sampled their lamb and beef bar-b-que which was different than ours (tasty but greasy). Sunny and calm every day.
