Produced by Northern River Productions out of Liverpool England, "The
Marty Reisman Story" on video is an extensive documentary on Marty, his
life and the sport of table tennis. It covers him from when he was
a very young boy until present day. The production has the flow and
feel of a BBC documentary.
Containing priceless classic footage, interviews with celebraties and table tennis aficionados, current matches, and a wonderful multi location interview that captures the man precisely, this tape is a must have. If you have ever read "The Money Player" or met the man, you will be instantly drawn in by its candor and open discussion of the man, his talent and his blemishes.
While the packaging on the evaluation copy presented to us for review is nothing to write home about, this is of little consequence once you drop the tape into your machine. There is a wonderful level of quality behind the obviously independent production of this video. This is a labor of true love that will be a welcome addition to any sports video library, not just those of the table tennis community.
Particularly well done is the candid interview with Classic Hardbat
Table Tennis's Scott Gordon. This casual discussion gets to the heart
of Marty's passion and 
drive
in the sport. Also marvelously precious is the interview with Marty's
wife, Yoshiko, truly a nice touch.
Some of the references within the tape assume an inside knowledge of the table tennis world. However, this minor "design flaw" will have no impact on those within the primary target market for the video. That target is placed squarely on the table tennis connoisseur. It is terrific that this long rumored production has finally come to fruition.
Take advantage of the opportunity to buy one of these videos. You will treasure it in years to come. As Tim Boggen so eloquently states, Marty is a master ....
