ELECTIONS
To the HAL-PC Board of Directors
Call for Candidates

It’s HAL-PC election time again! The annual Director’s election will be held in June. The duties of the Board include, but are not limited to: establish policies and procedures for the conduct of HAL-PC’s affairs, approve and monitor the HAL-PC annual budget, and take a leadership role in development and fund raising. Additional duties are defined in Article IV of the HAL-PC Bylaws.

Any member interested in volunteering his or her time and talents to managing the affairs of HAL-PC should declare their intent to run as a Director by sending an e-mail message to election@hal-pc.org expressing said intent. Notice of a member’s intent to run for a position may also be mailed to the attention of the Election Committee, HAL-PC, 4543 Post Oak Place #200, Houston, Texas  77027-3103. Notification must be submitted not later than 5 PM CDT, April 30, 2009. Receipt of submissions will determine the position of names on the ballot.

Candidates are also permitted, but not required, to prepare a personal candidacy statement for publication in the HAL-PC Magazine and on HAL-PC’s website. Statements shall be less than 250 words long, and will be edited for expletives. Attach your day and evening telephone numbers and email address, so the Magazine Editor can contact you in the event of problems with your electronic file. Your telephone numbers and email address will not be published as a part of your statement. You may include a 1 inch by 2 inch digital photo in JPG or TIF format. Note: the Magazine staff will NOT accept any paper photos, nor perform any edits or touch-ups to your digital photo.

Please submit your Campaign statement in electronic format (*.doc or *.txt file) so it is received not later than 5 PM CDT, April 30, 2009. Statements sent on paper will not be accepted. You may attach your file to an email message to election@hal-pc.org or mail or deliver a CD-ROM (no floppy. Jaz, or Zip) containing the file to the attention of the Election Committee, HAL-PC, 4543 Post Oak Place #200, Houston, Texas  77027-3103. Disks will not be returned to the Candidates.

(NOTE: The Election Committee strongly recommends that each candidate use a notification request feature in their personal email client, when submitting Notice of Intent or Campaign Statement via email. Electronic glitches in email (beyond the control of the Election Committee) have occurred in the past, and valid candidates almost did not get included in the Ballot or Magazine. So, please use the notification feature found in most email programs.)

The Election Committee’s acceptance of candidates’ documents is determined by when these documents are received by HAL-PC. Documents received after the above deadlines will not be considered, no matter what a postmark or courier service indicates.
