Welcome to my guide on home networking!
This is a work in progress, so please pardon the mess.
More content will be added as I have time.
Please feel free to send me your input. Any content you'd like to see? Any mistakes (spelling or otherwise)?

This site is designed to help you make the most of your ADSL service with HAL-PC. There are so many more uses for the internet than checking email, doing research, and playing games. You can talk with and watch family and friends from around the world. You can share files and family photos without having to send email or snail mail. There are at least 4 major text messaging services that could be left running on your computer so that family and friends can contact you without having to call you long distance. Your family can have a central and secure place to store their files. You can share large files (music, home movies, pictures, etc) between computers or family and friends. The possibilites are endless.
We give all ADSL users 3 dynamic ip addresses, however I rarely see anyone using more than 1 of them. Hopefully, after taking the time to browse through this site you will have a better understanding of the capabilities and benefits of a network in your home and be able to take full advantage of your ADSL connection.
Although the things mentioned here are not offically supported by HAL-PC, I will try to answer your questions if you get stumped (members only). Please email questions and comments to me at james@hal-pc.org. Please include your member number or HAL-PC username in the email. I hope you enjoy.
