Video/Chat Programs & Services

     Talk with your friends and family without the cost of long distance service! There are several FREE chat clients available today that make the "wired" life a little more beneficial. In order to use these services you need to sign up for an account and download/install the program that they provide. I've provided some links below that should make it easier.



Trillian - Client only | real time chat (text) with ALL of the services listed here | group chat | send/receive pictures | send/receive files | allows multiple accounts to log in at the same time with the same service!


Everybuddy - Client only | real time chat (text) with AIM, MSN, and Y! | group chat | send/recieve pictures | send/recieve files | Works with UN*X! (FreeBSD, Linux, or just about anywhere else you have a C compiler)


AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) - real time chat (text) | send/receive pictures | send/receive files | send/receive audio clips


MSN (Microsoft Network Messenger) - real time chat (text) | group chat | near real time audio | send/receive pictures | send/receive files


ICQ - real time chat (text) | broadcast message | web message | receive messages while you're offline | send/receive pictures | send/receive files


Y! (Yahoo! Messenger) - real time chat (text) | group chat | near real time audio and video | send/receive pictures | send/receive files


IRC (Internet Relay Chat) - real time chat (text) privately or with entire "rooms" of people | send/receive files | must connect to an IRC server and select a chat room to join


GnomeMeeting - real time video conferencing | VoIP | real time chat (text) | address book | Works with UN*X! (FreeBSD, Linux, or just about anywhere else you have a C compiler)


Microsoft NetMeeting - (google for "netmeeting lawsuit") | enough said.
