HAL-PC Headquarters BuildingForwarding E-mail

Where user is used in the example, replace it with your HALNet userid. Where username@anotherdomain.com is used in the example, replace it with the address where you want to forward your mail.

    Webmail interface #1

  1. Login to the Web-based email interface with your HALNet userid and password
  2. Mailboxes menu

  3. Select 'Rules' from the menubar at the top of the screen
  4. Forwarding options

  5. To have a vacation message automatically returned to senders while you are not picking up email, type the message in the 'Vacation Message' window and check the 'Vacation Message' checkbox.

To simply forward mail to another email address, type the full forwarding email address in the 'Redirect All Mail' window and check the 'Redirect All Mail' checkbox. There are options at the bottom of the screen:

    1. 'Keep a copy': A copy of the forwarded message will be left on the HALNet server. Do not check this option unless you plan to periodically check and delete your mail from the HALNet mail server, as there IS a disk quota that you will exceed if you do not keep your mailbox cleaned out.
    2. 'Do Not Redirect Automatic Messages': If this option is selected, messages from non-human sources (mailing list messages, error messages, redirected and mirrored messages) are not forwarded.
    3. 'Preserve To/CC fields': The forwarded messages will appear to come from the original sender with the original CC: information, rather than appearing as forwarded from your Userid.
