'Usenet' is a collection of threaded discussion groups called 'newsgroups', which operate in much the same way as BBS 'conferences' of the past. HALNet's news server carries approximately 25,000 newsgroups, including a local heirarchy for HALNet support and HAL-PC general news. Our news server is accessible only to HALNet accounts. News clients should point to news.hal-pc.org as their nntp server.

HALNet technical support questions should be posted to halpc.halnet.questions. General discussion about HAL-PC should be directed to halpc.general. Messages regarding ISDN service should be posted to halpc.halnet.questions.isdn.

'Spamming' the news groups (inappropriate or excessive cross-posting of messages to multilple groups) or violation of newsgroup charters is grounds for termination of your HALNet account.
