Many people wonder if their modem (or connection) is working properly. They will experience slow downloads, slow web page browsing and disconnects. The following is information to help you understand the nature of “high speed” modems, gather information and set-up your modem. First, read the owner’s manual and follow the instructions that came with your modem. Second, the manufacturer of your modem should have a web site for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Technical Support. Third, there are “modem” web sites that have valuable information. Due to the fact that the phone lines are predominantly copper wires routed throughout the city and surrounding area, a varied difference of line quality can exist. If you are experiencing frequent disconnects, add these commands to the Extra Settings box. S10=50S25=50 This may help you with a poor connection.
