Windows Vista Email Setup

Click on the round Windows "Start" button in the lower left corner of your screen, then click Windows Mail. See Figure 1.

Click on Tools, then click Accounts. See Figure 2.

You should get an "Internet Accounts" box. See Figure 3.

If another account is in the box that is not being used, or if you are "resetting" your account in Outlook, then remove the accounts.

Once the Internet Accounts box is blank, click the ADD button. A dialog box should appear asking what type of account you want to create. See Figure 4.

Click "E-mail Account".

Click NEXT.

Enter your name here. This can be any name you want the people you send Emails to see you as.

Once done, click NEXT.

Enter your HALNet e-mail address.

Once done, click NEXT.

  • The type of sever is a POP3.
  • The incoming server is named pop.hal-pc.org (in small letters).
  • The outgoing mail server is named smtp.hal-pc.org (in small letters).
Put a check in, "Outgoing server requires authentication."

Make sure the information is like the "Set up e-mail Servers" dialog box in Figure 7.

Once done, click NEXT.

The Account Name is your username (your username is your HALNet email address in small letters).

In the Password box, put in your HALNet password.

Make sure the information is like the "Internet Mail Logon" dialog box in Figure 8.

Click NEXT.

Click FINISH.

The HAL-PC account should show in the "Internet Accounts" box. See Figure 10.

NOTE: if the only account you are using is with HAL-PC and you do not wish to have any other accounts, then click on the unwanted account, and click the "Remove" button to the right.

Once done, click Close (in the lower right), then close down your Windows Mail.
