QUICKEN SIG HOME PAGE

WELCOME to the Quicken SIG Home Page. Check back once in a while, as updates and changes to both the SIG and Home Page will be forthcoming. We do send reminders and specific info by e-mail to SIG members before each meeting.

**** SPECIAL NOTE ****

Our SIG usually meets two sessions each month, the 2nd and 4th Mondays, at 7 p.m.  For example, in July 2003 we meet the 14th and 28th. The schedule is in the SIG calendar.

HOWEVER - - In August through  December, 2003, we will meet only the first session, namely the 2nd Monday, Aug 11, Sep 8, Oct 13, Nov 10 and Dec 8. The reason ? Vacation schedules and Holidays interfere with the second sessions.

ANN SMITH and I and several SIG members, such as Lou Warren, have been doing our best to keep the Quicken SIG meeting regularly, and on time, interesting, and instructional from 1999 through 2003.

Each month we provide instruction and demos on some of the basics : Setting up account registers for checkbook, credit card, asset, etc.; reconciling against statements; backing up; data entry tricks; customizing; memorized transactions; using categories & classes; multiple files and multiple accounts within a file; reports by year, category, tax; preparation for tax time, etc. We do this by developing a complete file on a realistic but virtual family, the Newbys.

During each session we also instruct more advanced topics : Tracking and researching investments, portfolio management, online data retrieval, asset & liability management, online banking, upgrading to the latest Quicken version, you name it . . . .

For the last several years, we have been presenting these topics according to a previously distributed 6 month schedule, from February through July (on request by e-mail).

Questions, comments and discussion from the SIG members are heartily encouraged at all times. These make the sessions more interesting.

If you have any questions regarding Quicken or the SIG please call or e-mail us. The write-ups in the HAL-PC magazine SIGNotes and the calendar are kept current.
