Three Point Attention
..and as you settle yourself comfortably in the chair you can begin to wonder where in your mind you can wander and to wonder about the inadequacy of the talking mind to act in a deep way in the world.
What system an individual is using to go about finding a solution, there is a verbal description and now beginning to process in a different alternative way.
What sort of imagery, sign, symbol, hallucination we could begin to develop to guide the nervous system easily and comfortably towards that state that needs initially to be independent, at least initially from verbal language. So we've got to do some deframing to get to a state where the self can begin to choose a path in life and be able to follow in a way that the nervous system will align with it.
So the first step is to deframe in the tradition of hypnosis an induction is a deframing its primary purpose is to shift attention, subtle shifts and changes at deep and complex levels, from a fixed orientation, some fixed configuration to a more wide open, a more wide open, more uncommitted orientation. The basic premise is once you are committed to nothing and once you are attached to nothing then you can have access to anything.
So how can you achieve deframing in any walk of life, any orientation to life, in any context, no matter what your traditions are?
Well perception is an easy way to begin to attend to it. The way we use perception is to organise our experience to one way of thinking or another.
You are looking at my eyes right now? That's right, not that I am anything beautiful or have any particular power, it's nice to know is it not that you can be seen in a relaxed way?
An as you look at my eyes is it easier or is it more difficult to continue to verbalise?
As you continue to nod your head NAME I am going to ask you to stay outwardly focussed at the same time as you turn your attention inward. I am going to be asking you to stay in relationship with the world around you even as you go very deeply inside you into your inner world, your inner landscape.
Specifically what I am going to be asking you to do is to experiment with the process now of as you see my eyes I am going to ask you to also see my hands, and see my eyes.
That might seem a little strange, a little bit funny, a suggestion at first, how can you really do that, and when you are bale to do that comfortably, good, so you see you begin to breath a little bit deeper, and that finger moves a little, at this point indicating that not only can you see my eyes as one orientation, one comfortable place of absorption, and not only can you see my hands as another comfortable point of absorption and orientation...
I am going to suggest now and again and often times from the verbal level, this can be baffling for a moment or two, I am also going to suggest that you also see your hands as you continue to absorb on my hands and my eyes, and just wonder, and allow yourself to discover how your body can change in order to allow that to occur.
So that you can see your hands, and I am not talking really focally, I am talking about seeing them so that you can feel their presence, if you moved a finger you would be able to see that in your peripheral vision, out of the corner of your eye and a word can often be like that on the tip of your tongue, can it not
Good, and as you do that how does your body feel? What changes do you notice as they occur.

So as these sensations are developing I will be suggesting throughout the process in the next five minutes or so that we engage in I am going to be asking you to be concentrating, concentrating in a very comfortable way. Concentrating in a very relaxed way, really without any muscle tension in terms of being to continue to see my eyes, concentrate to stay in a relationship out here.
You are going to turn inward, but not just yet, and as you do that you may want to just give yourself a nod to indicate to me that you are doing that and give yourself the nod in the sense of finding your own way to signal.
Now I am going to be asking you to move to the second step here. In that state I would simply like you to develop a sort of vision in terms of how you will be in several weeks, in several say three, four weeks. It's really not important, but in the future, the not too distance future in terms of that way of regarding your difficulty. I would like you to continue to see your hands, to see my hands, to see my yes, I would like you to simply - wonder - how that vision, and what that vision, and where that vision might be as it begins to develop. That way of being able to cope comfortably with your problem in the future, as you continue to develop that vision, in this intersection between the two worlds, where the two worlds meet, between the inner and the outer in a relaxed and curious way to allow that vision to develop with that softening of your inner eyes to yourself, a soft and gentle inner looking, inner listening, inner sensing whilst comfortably being in connection with the world around you.
And you can still see my eyes can you not? And you can still see your hands with a very comfortable body do you not? And do you have a sense of that vision? And you can still see my eyes can't you? It's a funny way of thinking isn't it? It's a little bit different than the way that we are normally trained to think. You see what I am asking you to do, and encouraging you to do, and supporting you and even suggesting at an unconscious level is, you really feel free to do, is to be able to think while still being very very connected with the world around you and very very deeply connected with all the resources which have not yet been fully identified at a verbal level.
It's nice to still see your hands is it not?
Now what I am going to ask you with that sense of the vision is another sort of funny thing away from the tradition, I am going to ask you to locate precisely in space, in your visual field around you in this present space.
I am sitting here and you are sitting there, the floor is below us, the ceiling is above us, you are aware of all four corners of the room we are in, and in this space here and now I would like you to sense precisely where is that vision located, where in space? Just locate it, you don't have to be drawn to it, simply be aware of it.
And you can see my hands can't you, and that is an unusual state is it not, unusual at first and you can point with your hand to precisely where you sense that vision in space?
A: it's over there
Is it in this time, this place with us now or another time, another place?
A: yes, it's over there then
OK, this means I have to do something else, I am going to ask you to make a slight adjustment here. It's nice to know that your unconscious mind can be quite close with the proper amount of distance and with a sense of knowing that even as you are fully NAME involved in that process you can also be aware of my hands, a simple thing, like my hands. Funny how those things work. Now I am going to ask you to sense in the present now it's probably about 4.30, maybe about five minutes before, maybe five minutes after, it's Thursday, it's the afternoon, the time is now and that timeless image really can intersect with now and you see my hands can you not? And do you feel presence of that vision in the room here now and can you point to it?
A: yes I can feel it now strongly
And it's nice to know that an image can vibrate very comfortably and that you don't have to do really anything except concentrate without effort. You see my hands can't you and that doesn't take any real effort as you continue to sense that vision vibrating in a very real way.
A: yes it does - nice
And I am going to ask you NAME to proceed in a very comfortable way to the next step namely I am going to ask you to simply ask yourself in a curious way, with a sense of openness and anticipation, the question:
Where inside my body or outside my body, where is the best place for this vision to be located now that will help me to comfortably reconnect with myself

Yes you can feel a great deal right down there and as you take a moment to sense how far that you have proceeded in the sense of being able to see my hands and just enjoy the fact that you have achieved that and that you have been able to develop a vision, you don't how, when, where you will achieve that vision in the future. And you can relax knowing that you have achieved that.
You have located where that vision is felt in space and it is nice to know that you can be able to relaxed knowing that you have achieved that. And you have also been able to achieve a sense of where you can best use that image and it is nice to know that you can relax knowing that you have achieved that.
Now when you are ready here is a place where you can begin to allow yourself to become increasingly absorbed in that process of changing your bodily organisation to achieve the realities, the results. I would like you to simply when you are ready and you will know that you are ready because your finger will begin to lift.
When you are reedy you can begin to gently guide as you would a baby, a baby that needs a great deal of gentle support down from where you first felt the vision down into that place where you have located as a centre.
And you may wish to close your eyes at this moment to help guide yourself to this centre, your inner awareness, life flowing through you, and when that vision has moved into that place, that's right, you can use those bodily cues to take those breaths and where is it now

You see after you have done a great deal of thinking we are talking about thinking in a comfortable way, after you have done a great deal of thinking, it si nice to take a rest, to take refreshment, to slake a thirst, feed a hunger, to take the time to digest new information, knowledge and wisdom and orient inside with your eyes closed and simply know that following that thinking, that step by step process, that bodily comfort that really is something that you can draw on in the future, that is something that you can do with a great deal of satisfaction and contentment so take a few minutes now to simply integrate all the way down there knowing that that vision is the future and that you can use, recognise, remember, recall that vision is a way of letting your central nervous system, proceed on that new path of deep inner comfort, on that new path of deep inner comfort, soothingly and calmly into the future.
And where is that feeling now, has it moved
A: yes, it's settling and spreading
And isn't it nice to know that you have movement in your body, and when you are ready you can come back out knowing that not only can you maintain the ability to see my hands but at any time in stress when you don't know what to do then anybody's hands or reasonable substitute thereof is really something you can count on.
