DOOM

DOOM was ID's first multiplayer first person shoot em' up game that was very successful. The game is still quite popular today because of the built in ability to attach 3rd party add-in environments. A selection of these environments can be found at [FTP.CDROM.COM] various FTP sites on the internet.

DOOM II and DOOM II variants.

When DOOM II was released it introduced a number of minor enhancements to the original DOOM game engine. These enhancements allowed for the building of new traps and better layouts.

HERETIC

HERETIC is the result of a colabrative effort between ID (the game engine + adjustments) and a new company called Raven Software (character, enviroment, and level design). The end result is a throughly enjoyable game to play, espically in multiplayer mode.
The story line behind HERETIC is simple. An evil being known as a "Serpernt Rider" and his minions have come to your world and made your race all but extinct. Now it is your time to return the favor and seek vengence upon the "Serpernt Rider" and his minions.

GIMMExx	Gives artifacts. Use the following letters to recive an artifact and a number between 1 and 9 for how many of that artifact you want. EXAMPLE: GIMMEC8 will give you eight potions.

Secret Level
To get to the secret level "Grave Yard" you must follow these steps. First goto the Cathedral (level 6) and flip the end switch. Don't beat the level, instead go back up the green key stairs and turn right. Go down the hall until you see an opening in the wall that wasn't there before. Enter and destroy all of the enemies and flip the switch in the room to open another door. In this room you will hopefully be able to find the right "end" teleport. Take this transport and you will be sent to the "Grave Yard" level.

HEXEN

HEXEN is the last game produced by ID and Raven Software that uses a modified version of the DOOM engine. Unlike the DOOM series the HERETIC and HEXEN games are in a faintisy motif. You get to choose between one of three characters to play, FIGHER, CLERIC, or MAGE. A multiplayer game with all three character classes in action can be an awsome sight. This game rates an A++ in my book for great game play, wonderful execution, and flawless design.

QUAKE

QUAKE was ID's first true 3D game. Unlike their previous efforts which were "elevated" 2D games Quake was a real 3D game. The QUAKE game engine allowed for stacking of physical elements and characters. An example of this is can be a bridge designed into the game. In DOOM a bridge consists of a simple elevated plane or platform. Nothing can pass under the bridge because it is a solid structure, like a rock wall. In QUAKE you can have a true 3D structure. The bridge can be a thin structure set at any elevation in your environment with little if any support structures. You can pass under the QUAKE bridge without any problems or you can pass over the bridge while monsters are underneath.

**QUAKE cheat codes. Use the "~" key to activate the command console.**
GOD	Activates GOD mode. If you remain in GOD mode too long you will die of boredom.
MAP ExMx	Warp to Episode "x" and Map "x"
NOTARGET	Enemies don't see you unless you fire at them.
NOCLIP	Allows you to walk through walls.
IMPULSE 255	Quad damage mode.
FLY	You can fly! Use the D key for UP and the C key for DOWN
GIVE ?	Gives you the weapon of your choice. Replace the "?" with the number of the weapon that you want.
GIVE S ?	Gives you shotgun SHELLS. Replace the "?" with the number of shells that you want.
GIVE C ?	Gives you battery CHARGES. Replace the "?" with the number of charges that you want.
GIVE R ?	Gives you ROCKETS. Replace the "?" with the number of rockets that you want.
GIVE N ?	Gives you NAILS for your nail gun.
GIVE HEALTH ?	Gives you up to 999 health points.
IMPULSE -1	QUAD DAMAGE MODE.
IMPULSE 0	nothing.
IMPULSE 1	gives shotgun

DUKE NUKE'EM 3D

DUKE 3D is an execellent game with a bright sense of humor. The game has a little bit of adult humor but is light hearted in compairson to the shoot'em ups offered by ID.

REDNECK RAMPAGE

REDNECK RAMPAGE has got to be one of the single most stupid (or is that STOOPID) games ever produced. Like your average redneck this game has some very crude humor and it would normally make for some good game play. However this game PERFORMS like it was programmed by "Billy Joe Brewski" from Tomball, Texas after he's had a sixpack or two of Coor's Beer. It staggers, freezes up, and in general it plays quite sloppy. But then again I'm trying to run this sick puppy on an old P5-90. Even with 128MB of RAM it plays quite poorly. I'll give it a D-.
