Terry Canup participates as part of the 1996 US Olympic Team!

He umpired table tennis in Atlanta at the 100th Centennial Olympic Games! He is one of 6 umpires to represent the US:

Allen Barth, Aly Salam, Bob Partridge,

Ray Cavvichio, Azmy Ibrahim, Terry Canup

They participated along with athletes Jimmy Butler, David Zhuang, Tod Sweeris, Lily Yip, Amy Feng, and Wei Wang. Additionally, USATT's Wendell Dillon was the Olympic Referee.

Although all of the competitors for the US were eliminated in the preliminary rounds, the officials took up the slack.

  • Allen Barth was awarded the Gold Medal Match in Men's Doubles,
  • Ray Cavvichio was selected for the Gold Medal Match in Men's Singles,
  • Bob Partridge was chosen for the Bronze Medal Match in Men's Singles, and
  • Terry Canup was selected for the Gold Medal Match in Women's Singles!
  • This outstanding performance by the American umpiring crew showed a devotion and dedication to excellence that was worthy of these Olympic Games!
