2005 Double Die Lincoln Cent
Greater Houston Coin Club Show
Houston, Texas
proposed design: Edwin Johnston
I made the graphic file above as a proposed design for the Gallery Mint Museum 2005 mobile mint token obverse and emailed it in at the end of September 2004. My suggestion was that since their first show of the coming year was the 50th anniversary of the Greater Houston Coin Club (of which I'm a member, and a club whose logo is the 1955 Double Die Lincoln Cent), that GMM could design a "2005 Double Die Lincoln Cent" to commemorate the 50th anniversaries of both the club and that widely popular minting error, and that the obverse could serve to be a common one for show tokens throughout the year 2005. I was happy beyond belief when I arrived at the GMM booth at the Houston show to find them minting my proposed design and hearing such positive comments from showgoers about it.
