Gallery Mint Museum Mobile Mint Pewter Tokens

*Related reading off site: A Post Modern Coin Collection article by Edwin Johnston

The Gallery Mint Museum (GMM) began operating in 1992, founded by Ron Landis and the late Joe Rust (combined portraits above.) They provided handcrafted reproductions of historic coins and other such creative projects to fund the building of a museum focusing on the preservation and advancement of minting arts and technologies. One area that GMM has made a constructive impact on the coin collecting hobby is the design and production of small pewter tokens (~20mm, w/lettered edges), often made on-site at various coin shows throughout the nation using a small mobile mint press. Over a period of ten years I've completed collecting a specimen of each of the published types, listed in the cabinet below. By clicking on either the photos or the names of the tokens, it will take you, via a link, to a higher resolution scan and some highly informative comments on the type, including other similar items such as off-metal strikes, and other curiousities. All links below open in a new browser window. I'd like this page to serve as a comprehensive database of these mobile mint pewter tokens. Any assistance that I can gather to further develop the database or the content and design of this page is welcome. Please enjoy!

This collection merely touches on the prolific output of the Gallery Mint Museum. The enormous range of minted creations predates the formation of the Gallery Mint Museum, back to the days of activity at the Rennaisance Festivals, and continues on to the present time. Verne Walrafen has documented many of these on his extensive and comprehensive website, Ron Landis' Workbench ScrapBook which I've linked below. If you are aware of any other such educational links in this area please submit them to me.
