The Houston Committee for People's Radio (HCPR) was founded in the summer of 1999 as a response to the takeover of radio station KPFA/Pacifica in Berkeley by Pacifica Foundation management against the needs of the community. HCPR serves to organize people at the sister station in Houston, KPFT 90.1 FM.

Old News:
Garland Ganter's charge of assault against Edwin Johnston was dismissed in Municipal Court on July 16, 2001. A second charge of assault filed by Ganter's wife, Molly, was dismissed in County Court on August 27, 2001. Stay tuned for an extensive report.
