Benefits of Tai Chi
Recent research has reported improvement in heart function,
balance and postural stability, and fall prevention.
Improvements in mood and reductions in stress, tension, depression,
anger, fatigue, confusion, and anxiety are noted in both beginning and advanced
tai chi practitioners. It developes calm, peace, relaxation, and clarity of
mind.
Tai chi integrates both the body and mind. The movement aids blood circulation
and helps to remove toxins in the liver, helps the kindney
to function properly,
improves
balance,
prevents
backaches, and improves joint stiffness associated with arthritis.
Thirteen Principles of Tai Chi
- Keep a serene countenance.
- Do the form, the slower the better.
- Use your brain and not your brawn.
- Continuity with no interruption.
- Inner peace in outwardly moving form.
- Keep the mind empty and the head erect as if suspended
from above.
- Maintain an upright posture.
- Distinguish between yin and yang, the negative and
positive.
- Flat chest and back.
- Pliable waist.
- Low shoulders and elbows.
- Synchronization of the movement of all the parts of the
body.
- Harmony of the mind and body.
