The 1958 Highlander was the first motorized, 2 wheel contraption I ever owned. I paid $5.00 (yes that's five dollars) for it in 1963. The engine was in pieces in a box (literally) and was in bad need of repair. My dad, who was adamantly against me having a scooter or a motorcycle, naturally raised hell when I brought it home but I told him I was "just" going to fix it up and sell it. Well, I did do that (and it was a GREAT learning experience) but quite a few months transpired between the time I purchased it and the sale. This time was spent "testing" it before I could sell it (surprise, surprise... :-) ). That was all it took and there was no stopping my 2 wheeled career from that point on.
