W5TI operated as 2A again this year in the Field Day. We didn't have some of our "old pro" operators - such as Bill (KA9IKK) and George (KM5VP) - this year so we had to cover all the bases with only a few faithful operators. We had one dedicated HF station and one HF station that doubled as a 6-meter station. We had a total of 117 SSB QSOs and 0 CW QSOs. Counting bonus points of 100, our score was 217 points. We really didn't take the contest seriously this year. We didn't put up the HF beam, only the 6-meter. We used a HF6V and W5XC's mobile mount antennas for HF.
It was hot and muggy again (as usual) but we didn't have rain. Actually, there was a nice breeze out of he south most of the time that cooled things off....well, as cool as it can be in Houston in late-June!
Next year we are going to get serious again, so look out 2A STX!
Lord willing, we'll plan to see you again next year at Field Day.
