Tommy's Spamcop simplified instructions
for new users [getting started] not for beginners IMHO

Free account for "reporting" spam only. Nothing fancy, just the usual basics. 

Getting started F a s t !   Basic Instructions without all the options and explanations.

1. Go to www.spamcop.net

2. Locate the words "sick of spam?" on the top left part of the webpage.

3. Just underneath click on "Reporting and Filtering Options.."

4. Locate the words "Spam reporting only:" on the top left part of the webpage.

5. Just underneath click on "Reporting only"

6. Jump to the middle of the upcoming page where the text boxes are.
   
   

7. Fill in the text box next to : "Full name or alias:"

8. Fill in the text box next to : "Email address:"

9. Check the box that says "register as a "mole" ". [preserves your anonymity]

10. Click the box that says "Send Authorization email"

11. Save the email that comes back to you from spamcop in response to step 10 ! 
    Also save the special "reporting address" in your address book !
    I use the easy to remember name "spamcop"  to associate this address with.
    Also save the special "reporting webpage address" in your favorites, and address book !

12. When you get spam, send it to the "reporting address" [spamcop in my case]. more on reporting
    When you get the response email back, look for these words:
    "Use links to finish spam reporting (members use cookie-login please!):"
    Click on the link just below these words.

13. Near the bottom of the ensuing page, there should be a button to click 
    to "report" the offending spam email. Click it. This is the last step.
    

SOME EXPLANATIONS AND WARNINGS:

the reason for all the complications are:

• You preserve your anonymity, preventing reprisals from spammers.
• Spamcop prevents the "spoofing" [impersonation] of their email address / website, 
  and protects them from attack.    

Watch out for some important things : [ Spamcop won't work if you don't do these things]

• You must forward the offending spam email as "an attachment". This is easy
  to do in MS Outlook Express [it's an option], but in MS Outlook, it's not so easy..
• You must use the personal spamcop reporting address sent to you 
  when you register.

You can use a "pastie form" to report also

• Use the webpage link found on your authorization form [see step 11] to report with.
• Copy the "full header" and paste. It's very important to get the "full header"  here's how
• Copy the body text and paste
• Hit "process spam" button
