PART 9 - PONDS AND WATER GARDENS
WARNING!! Something fishy's goin' on!!
Ponds, aquatic gardens and their inhabitants are a specialty feature of gardening.
The Internet contains many such sites including:
- Aqua Landscapes
of Houston is located in Houston, Texas and contains some great
photos of types of water gardens.
- Located in Ontario, Canada the website of
Burns Water Gardens consists of many photos of ponds and plants
and also furnishes a great deal of information for those thinking of
installing a pond.
- Denver
County Cooperative Extension has a water gardening site with a wealth
of information.
- The origin of Lilypons Water
Gardens, Inc. goes back to 1917 when George Thomas, Sr. turned
his goldfish hobby into a business, then called Three Springs Fisheries.
With growth came the purchase of the 300 acre tract of land which is
still being used today.
- The webpage of Nelson
Water Gardens is worth a trip, if only to see and hear the sparkling
sight and sound of a shimmering waterfall into a garden pond.
- Nishikigoi of Japan Home
Page Great page set up to spread the hobby of Koi keeping. "Nishikigoi"
is a general term for colored koi with markings which are bred for appreciation.
- PetEducation.com
has an excellent section on Water Gardens. There are a few nice photos
but the main value to be found is the advice given regarding various
stages of pool construction and pool management.
- A variety of pool information can be found in the Pondmarket
Home Page in St. Louis.
- State
of Iowa - Department of Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife Division
has a nice site. It's fairly small but contains some excellent points
to consider before constructing a pool and how to maintain clear water
after the pool in installed.
- Located in California, Van Ness
Water Gardens maintains a nice site. Besides selling plants, this
page is crammed with information about creating and maintaining a water
garden.
