WARNING!! Something fishy's goin' on!!

Ponds, aquatic gardens and their inhabitants are a specialty feature of gardening. The Internet contains many such sites including:

  • Aqua Landscapes of Houston is located in Houston, Texas and contains some great photos of types of water gardens.
  • Located in Ontario, Canada the website of Burns Water Gardens consists of many photos of ponds and plants and also furnishes a great deal of information for those thinking of installing a pond.
  • Denver County Cooperative Extension has a water gardening site with a wealth of information.
  • The origin of Lilypons Water Gardens, Inc. goes back to 1917 when George Thomas, Sr. turned his goldfish hobby into a business, then called Three Springs Fisheries. With growth came the purchase of the 300 acre tract of land which is still being used today.
  • The webpage of Nelson Water Gardens is worth a trip, if only to see and hear the sparkling sight and sound of a shimmering waterfall into a garden pond.
  • Nishikigoi of Japan Home Page Great page set up to spread the hobby of Koi keeping. "Nishikigoi" is a general term for colored koi with markings which are bred for appreciation.
  • PetEducation.com has an excellent section on Water Gardens. There are a few nice photos but the main value to be found is the advice given regarding various stages of pool construction and pool management.
  • A variety of pool information can be found in the Pondmarket Home Page in St. Louis.
  • State of Iowa - Department of Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife Division has a nice site. It's fairly small but contains some excellent points to consider before constructing a pool and how to maintain clear water after the pool in installed.
  • Located in California, Van Ness Water Gardens maintains a nice site. Besides selling plants, this page is crammed with information about creating and maintaining a water garden.
