Come Into My Toolshed

Updated Feb 2, 2002

IMAGE OF FARM TOOLSHED

My Internet Toolshed is quite a lot like my garage toolshed - getting fuller and fuller of all sorts of odds and ends. Some may seem like junk - to me they seem like treasure -- all kinds of tools and gadgets that help me do the things I like to do. As with all toolsheds, there's a limited amount of room so every once in a while I have to do some spring (or summer or fall or winter) cleaning to make room for the new. That's why you have to revisit every once in a while to see what changes I've made.

Who Am I? If you really want to know just look up clickhere The Old Gardener

They tell me that "I can't take it with me" - so I ain't goin'. When I get up in the morning, the first thing that I do is look in the obituaries and if I don't see my name, I have a cup of coffee. Just to be safe and reassure myself, every once in a while I take the following test to see how long I've got, unless I slip in the bathtub or walk in front of a bus or be in a plane crash or -- Say!! Maybe I shouldn't even get out of bed today.

Entrance to MY GARDEN

cartoon characterI like to spend time gardening - so do many of you. I created My Garden to share with you botanical, horticultural and general gardening links from around the world. Actually I spend most of my web time in MY GARDEN and so I sincerely hope that you will spend time there too. I am also developing My Master Gardener Page and a website for Harris County Master Gardener Association

I used to do a little rock hounding, but never in my life did I ever find anything like the gems and minerals that are displayed in theSmithsonian Gem Gallery and the Smithsonian Mineral Gallery But to see them best you must go across the Atlantic to Bremen Germany for the Smithsonian Gem Collection. I love photography but I'm sure that I'll never createmasterpieces like those of Ansel Adams.

Art comes in so many forms and the Internet allows us to see it all!! Grafitti is found world-wide and is usually repugnant and against the law but there are some - Art Crimes: The Writing On The Wall - that are beautiful. Many of use will never physically travel to the Museums of the World but we can travel - via the Net - to the Vatican to see the Sistine Chapel. And of course by "surfing' with Surfer's List to Art on the Web or Web Gallery of Art or the Web Museum literally dozens of other locations can be found.

As an added note to the above paragraph my wife and I have traveled to the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. The lines to enter were tremendously long, the halls and rooms were packed with people shoulder to shoulder. The Sistine Chapel was almost in the dark, packed with people, and the beautiful paintings on the ceiling and walls were hard to see for lack of light. Believe me, if you really want to see the beautiful art of the Vatican - look at it on the Web.

Search Locations - Web Resources

Most of the fun in "surfing" is to find new waves or locations. Ever wonder about the mating habits of the Blue Footed Boobies in the Galapagos or the hunting call of the albino weasel cat of upper Nepal. It's out there somewhere and all you have to do is look. Using one or more of these search sites will make the job easier.

News on the Net

No one surfin' should ever run out of news.

A surprisingly large number of worldwide newspapers have established Web Sites. And a surprisingly large number of websites are devoted to providing links to newspapers, either in the US or worldwide. Among these are:

Just a sample of the newspapers which you will find in this list include:
