Welcome to Boomer Bill's Web page!

1869 LocomotiveToot, Toot! Choo, Choo! And Chug, Chug! Goes the train down the railroad track. At some time in the distant past, railroad workers were known as boomers. I have been chasing trains since I was three years old when my father had to do a flying tackle to keep me from self-destructing under the wheels of a steam switcher on the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railroad tracks in Houston.

A Primer on Practical Christianity

Studies in the Epistle of James

I have been a serious student of the Bible for over 40 years, almost from the time when I first placed my trust in Jesus Christ as my Savior. Several times over the years, I have heard the book of James taught. A few years ago, I decided to put down on paper my understanding of the book as I had learned it from several Bible teachers and from my own study. The result is this verse by verse commentary. Scriptel Ministries published the book. Scriptel shares my concern that correct teaching of the Bible as the word of God be made available to as many people as are interested. As a result, the book is available for free. Scriptel Ministries is a tax-exempt charitable Bible ministry and has qualified as a 501(c)3 charity under the rules of the Internal Revenue Service. Donations to cover the $2 cost of mailing to addresses in the United States are appreciated. You can also pick up a copy at my office in Houston, Texas. If you would like the address, please e-mail a request. The titles of some of the chapters give a idea of some of the subjects I covered in the book.

My railroad is named the Green Bay Southern. I model the locomotives and cars of the Green Bay and Western Railroad. I also like the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railroad.

In May 1998 I began construction on the new Green Bay Southern Railroad.

Genealogy According to Boomer Bill. I am researching the following family surnames. Where do I come from? Where do you come from? That's the driving question that impels the genealogist and family historian.

Well, do you know the answer?

My father and grandmother said we were related to Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry and General Nathanael Greene. These are a couple of famous names that lived around the turn of the century (Nineteenth century, that is). I thought, "It ought to be snap to find out how we are related." Don't bet on it! After more than twenty years of searching, I published a 778 page book with the results of my research. The relationship I found was no where near as close as family tradition thought it was. The common link between all of us is the immigrant, Edward Perry, who settled in the early 1600s in the Sandwich colony in what is now Massachusetts.

My book, Ancestors and Descendants of William Browning Greene and Mary Hoxsie Lewis with Allied Families, includes 42 chapters. Each chapter is devoted to an immigrant and some of his descendants. The families all lived in Rhode Island and inter-married at one time or another. Rhode Island was also the home of General Nathanael Greene and Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry. The book contains an extensive genealogy of the PERRYs and a large number of descendants of the CROSS, GREENE, KENYON, LEWIS, and SEGAR families. Other families in the book include BABCOCK, BROWNING, HAZARD, HOXSIE, and RATHBUN. There is even a chapter devoted to the family of Matthew BOOMER.

All copies of the book have been sold. The text of the book is available on CD-ROM for $19.50. The CD-ROM includes several formats including HTML, Microsoft Word, PDF, and WordPerfect. For information, send me an e-mail.

The following pages give more information about this book:

o        A list of the 42 families that make up chapters in the book.

o        The family of John Greene of Quidnesset from the book.
