Hummm...I wonder if Betty Lou has an e-mail address? I sure would like to send her a note and be sure that she receives it. And, I don't want to contribute to Ma Bell's 411 account. Sound like a problem you've had?
If the person you are seeking has ever registered for a service on the `net (e.g., New York Times, Wired magazine, or Widget Corp.), they'll be in a database.
The most user friendly way to find people on the `net is by using the search engine InfoSeek Guide at http://guide.infoseek. com/ and in the second window you'll see a drop-down window. Select "E-mail addresses". Press the search button to the right. On the next screen enter the person's name, city and state and press "Search". And wallah, within 15 seconds you'll have a list of "possibles"...IF the person is listed.
If your search didn't produce the right e-mail address, at the bottom of the screen are two special help buttons: e-mail Wizard that uses fuzzy logic or you can sign up for We'll Call You which is a free listing so someone can find YOU!
An additional area called WhoWhere? Inc. helps you find e-mail and physical addresses and phone numbers of companies and individuals on the `net.
P.S. You may wish to also try http://www.four11.com, which has about the same as the one above. For what is essentially a national white and yellow pages, try http://www.switchboard.com for names, addresses and telephone numbers. Their search method is fairly flexible. For comprehensive ZIP code info, go to the source: http://www.usps.gov/ncsc/.
