1. Put the disk in the floppy drive
2. Click Start, then Programs, then Windows Explorer.
4. Click File on the menu at the top of the screen, then New then Folder. A new folder appears at bottom left.
5. Type a name for the folder: 1Typing and press enter
A new folder appears on the left under C: called 1Typing
6. Click the A: icon The files on the A drive show on the right
7. Drag the file Typing.exe to the 1Typing folder on the left. (To drag, hold down the left mouse button, drag the file to the 1Typing folder, release the button).
8.Click on the 1Typing folder
9. Double click on the file Typing.exe to self-extract (uncompress) the file
10. Click the first file on the right. Press end key to get to the end of the list of files.
11. Drag the Fastype file to the desktop. A shortcut icon is created, it has an arrow on it.
12. Close Explorer by Clicking X in right corner
To Use The Fast Type Program
Double Click the Fastype icon on the desktop
Press C for C: drive
F2 for Beginner
F2 again for Home keys
Put fingers on home keys ASDF and JKL;
F10 to start
Type the key that is blue. If you get a wrong key, a red X shows up on the key you typed.
Type the right key. You can't go on until you get it right
Esc to stop Key is in Upper left corner of keyboard.
When you are done:
Press Esc to get back to main menu
F8 to exit
Enter (to bypass typing in time).
Back in Windows, double click time in lower right. Press Tab three times to get to hour field. Type in time pressing tab to go to each part 10:45:00PM or AM. Press enter.
Once you know the home keys
Press F2 for Beginner
F3 for Progressive Keys
Type a number for the letters to practice, e.g., 3. for run
After doing all these options, you will have learned all the letters on the keyboard
F10 to start
Esc to end
F10 to start again
To type text
F3 Beginner Exercises Menu
Try each option, e.g., F2 Words 3 letter groups
F10 Start
Type the text at the top of the screen. Top of screen shows the words to type with a pointer under the letter you are to type. The keyboard at the bottom of the screen shows the letter on the keyboard.
To turn the sounds off at main menu
F5 for Keyboard Aids menu
F2 Turn quiet on (Stop the sounds)
