The Format Painter. This button, which bears the image of a paintbrush, appears on the Formatting Toolbar. What it does is copy the formatting information from one piece of text to another. Position the insertion anywhere in some text with the characteristics you want to copy, and then double click on the "paintbrush" button. Notice the button now appears to be recessed. Now highlight the text to which you want to apply the copied format.
F4. Repeats the last action performed.
Table, Autoformat. If you have a tendency to spend more time than necessary tweaking the appearance of a table, or if design decisions of any kind simply overwhelm you, check out Table Autoformat. Create a table, then with the insertion point anywhere in the table, choose Table Autoformat from the Table Menu. You will be confronted with a dialog box containing a list of predesigned formats. Click on any one of the choices to view a sample in the Preview window. When you find one you like, click O. K. and that format will be applied to the table in your document. Notice that formatting can be applied selectively.
