Multimedia/MIDI SIG

Music software has come a long way since the early days of PC's. While MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is still a valuable tool for performance and composition, the current state of the art involves combining MIDI functions with digital audio and software synths and plugins. The overall system is sometimes called a DAW for "Digital Audio Workstation". The SIG members have been looking at one very popular combination, Ableton's Live software combined with M-Audio's O2 MIDI controller/keyboard. As you might guess from the "Live" name, this package is intended for real time performance, as well as studio composition.

We get into these topics and more at our monthly meetings, with programs like Adobe Premiere and After Effects for video, Sony's Sound Forge for digital audio, DivX compression, E-on Software's Vue 5 Infinite for 3D animation, and more.

Join us the first Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at HAL-PC (check the SIG calendar at the HAL-PC website for reschedules).
